It is time for Summer Holidays. People like to escape and see different landscapes, cultures and sceneries. But do they actually know the hidden treasures of their own countries?
More and more holidaymakers travel either by foot or by bicycle too.
Exploring cyclepaths is a great way to actually move and discover new horizons...whatever the distance.
The new word "staycation" has emerged.
Going away but within the region or the border.
One destination which is still very beautiful is the Isles of Scilly. From Penzance you can either catch the ferry or take the helicopter which is way faster but more expensive. So, if you are on a budget best way is to go by sea.
When arriving at St Mary's, you have several options. You can stay there - an animated little island - or go slightly further to Tresco.
Tresco is quiet, peaceful and it is like being in a far country with turquoise sea and white sand.
All this just a few hours away from the main land. Transports within Tresco:
- electric golf buggy
- bicycle
The island is small but there are so many things to look at and what is extraordinary is the silent. The only background noise is related to nature as there are no cars on the roads - just a tractor doing a round to pick up people for the next boat.
Being part of the United Kingdom - despite of feeling to be miles away - there is no hassle regarding finding a bureau de change. Forget the rush to get currencies and all the procedure of international banking. You are still in the UK.
The food is fine and very fresh - especially the crab sandwich at The New Inn. You can't miss it when you arrive by boat, it is on your left.
Everyone on the Scillies are friendly. The place has nothing to do with the crowded resorts built for tourists. People there don't like flashy cars, label clothes...etc. It is all about nature first. No one actually cares who you are or whether you have offshore investments.
A place to go to relax and just enjoy without any artificial effects. Why searching further than your doorstep afterall?!
And once you have discovered this paradise you will want to stay there even longer...it is a guarantee.
