Damien Hirst - a name known and recognized around the globe. He was part of the YBAs and auctioned his artworks a few years back making million of Pounds.
He has invested his money in an art gallery boutique Other Criteria (London and Ilfracombe) as well as a restaurant by Ilfracombe harbour (North Devon).
In 2012, residents of the Devon town were not too happy when a bronze statue called Verity was erected.
This time Hirst is about to have 750 homes on an 187 acre site. These building will be unique and sustainable.
The reason why some people are against this project?
...Main complaints are that the roads will have a major impact on the area and the jobs being created are unsustainable... Source
On the one hand, there will be new houses and eco-friendly ones. On the other hand, jobs will be created for a certain period. Is that not enough?
Of course, builders will only be necessary for the length of the project. However, this is the case for all type of architectural plan: The Shard, The Gerkhin or any other bridge and construction in general.
Is this not a win-win which will attract tourists and visitors as well as property owners?
